It was a fairly busy afternoon at the Westin hotel. Hundreds upon thousands of people had turned up for this year’s Anthrocon, and as a result, there were little to no rooms to spare for people who weren’t part of the event. Thankfully for two of the people involved, they had a room sorted.

Phil and his friend Dave had spent most of the morning checking out some of the artist events and other events at the convention, deciding to take a break for lunch. The two of them had met through the website Furaffinity, under the names of HG3300 and Rooth, and had struck up a friendship fairly quickly. It was due to this that they were able to arrange travel plans to the convention, as well as being able to share a room together.

“Well, so far so good!” Phil said as he sat down in the hotel lobby, looking over some of the things he had bought so far. “I haven’t even made a large enough dent in my wallet yet, how about you?”

“I’d say I’m around the same level,” Dave smirked. He had gotten a few pictures of his dragon sona, as well as some badges. “There are still a few things left for today before we can properly rest.”

“Like what?”

“Well, I was going to take part in the Fursuit Parade. I’ve got my Rooth’ragon suit in our room. Are you taking part?”

“I’d love to, but I don’t have any suits. And I don’t know anyone who’d make a decent suit on the cheap.”

“Aw man, that’s a shame. It would have been fun if you could have taken part alongside me. We could have done a fun ‘predator and prey’ setting.”

“Would that have involved me throwing a football at my ‘predator’?” Phil asked with a broad grin.

“Ok, I might have walked into that one,” Dave chuckled. Whilst he was talking with Phil, he was idly searching through apps on his iPad, seeing if there was anything he could download on the hotel’s Wi-Fi. “Hmm…although I might have found an app that could fix your problem.”

“I highly doubt that, but what is it?” He looked at his friend’s iPad.

“It’s a free app called FurMorph. Apparently it’s meant to be able to transform you into a random creature or your sona if you upload a photo to it.”

“An app that can turn me into my eagle sona? I think they’re pulling people’s legs!” He laughed.

“Well, there’s only one way to find out, isn’t there?” Dave pulled up a couple of bookmarks in his browser, saving the images to the system memory before uploading them into the app.

“Is it permanent?”

“It says you can set it to be either for a few hours or permanent. I’d say have it last till tonight, then we’ll be able to blow everyone’s minds with our ultra-realistic ‘costumes’,” he winked. “Anyway, the photos are uploaded, so all we gotta do is press the button under each picture and it’ll transform us, so whenever you’re ready!”

“Well, ok!” They placed the tablet down between them, pressing the buttons below the images of their sonas. For a moment, nothing seemed to happen, aside from a ‘PROCESSING’ message flashing on screen. Then they felt a sudden static burst go through them, knocking them backwards.

“OW!” Phil yelped, waving his hand about. “Damn, I think you might have broken your iPad!”

“Broken? It looks fine to me!” Dave looked at the screen, still blinking the word ‘PROCESSING’. To confirm that it was still working, he pressed the Home button, returning to the app selection, yet the blinking message remained at the top of the screen.

“Processing what, exactly?” Phil asked as he suddenly noticed the skin on his hands starting to flake off, revealing yellow scales. His fingers grew a little longer and thicker, middle digits fusing together, black, taloned claws emerging from his fingertips.

“Processing THAT!” Dave noticed his friend’s changing hands immediately, not noticing that his own hands were changing, skin drying up and falling away to reveal snow white scales underneath. Like with Phil’s, his middle fingers fused into one, small white claws emerging from the tips as the palms of his hands gained some padding.

“Well, it seems to be working like promised, that’s rare of such an app…although…” Phil paused when he noticed his clothing was beginning to feel quite constricting. Getting back to his feet, he noticed that he was standing at least a foot taller than before, his midsection exposed, as his shirt no longer properly fit. Dave’s clothes were beginning to shrink around him as well, as he too underwent a growth spurt. “Did you set us to grow at all on there?”

“No, I just asked it to turn us into our sonas for a few hours…” Dave brought the app back up, and noticed that the settings had been changed from what he had input: The time was set to ‘permanent’ and the size was set to ‘macro’. “Hoo boy…you’re gonna want to brace yourself for this then!”

“I really don’t know if I should be ecstatic or wanting to kill you right now!” Phil sighed as his body started to sprout dark brown feathers, large quills emerging from his arms and torso as the changes spread. His shirt burst open, his abs and pectorals becoming more evident and defined as he grew. Dave’s shirt also gave way to his altering musculature, his pectorals growing larger and more sculpted as the bulk of his torso didn’t gain any real definition, his body covering in white scales as each second passed.

“I’d suggest trying to get out of here so we don’t damage the place…but I think we’ve gotten a bit too big to pass through the doorway.” Dave looked towards the entrance, the top of the doorway just reaching their chests. Their clothing was shredding further, the changes spreading down to their legs as their muscles grew larger and larger, animalistic strength filling them as their clothing was cast aside. They would have been blushing bright red right now, if it wasn’t for the fact that the transformations had already concealed their genders, preventing embarrassment.

“I can see us having to take a much more unorthodox method at getting out of here in a few moments!” Phil stumbled as his shoes started to finally give way, his giant feet no longer able to be contained. His toes had swollen, yellow scales covering them like his hands as his toes grew longer, multiple digits fusing into three as his heels stretched upwards, another toe growing from just below the heel as giant black talons emerged from each digit. Just one movement of his foot was enough to leave a large crater in the floor beneath.

“If we do that, we might end up taking the whole hotel down, though!” Dave tried to keep himself steady as his own feet enlarged, pressure shifting to the balls of his feet as his heels locked upwards, five toes merging into three as the soles of his feet gained large, plush pads. Giant white talons emerged from his remaining toes as he kicked off what remained of his shoes, kicking a hole in the wall in the process.

“What else are we meant to do? At this point we’re gonna hit the - ACK!” Phil yelped as his head hit the ceiling. Dave wasn’t that far behind, having to duck a little bit. As he did so, he felt his spine extending outwards past his body, a long, thick, draconic tail slithering down to the ground beneath him. Phil’s sona lacked any means of a tail; instead, a broad set of tail feathers emerged from atop his rump, fanning behind him. Both Phil and Dave ducked down in an attempt to minimise damage, but as they did, they both felt growing pressure in their backs.

“Ggghh…oh, dear…I think we can say goodbye to the roof at this point!” Dave growled as they arched their backs, a pair of broad, powerful wings erupting from their backs. Phil’s wings were covered in large brown plumage, the feathers near the bottom a lighter brown in contrast. Dave’s wings were that of a standard dragon’s - batlike in nature, a thick white webbing set between elongated fingers. As they grew out, they tore a hole in the roof of the hotel, shooting rubble in the air. Thankfully, most of it landed out of harm’s way or onto them.

“Urrrfhh…at least on the plus side…we’ll be able to stand up now…” Phil winced a little from the falling debris, his jaws going numb as his teeth fused together into two solid masses, growing larger and curving as they pushed past his lips. A sharp, tough beak emerged from his mouth and pure white feathers grew around his head and neck, his ears shrinking into tiny holes as his hair fell away. To end his changes, his eyes moved slightly apart from each other, the sclera turning deep black as the irises turned bright yellow.

“On the plus side…this is about over…” Dave hissed as his jaws thrust forward, stretching with a few pops as his tongue grew longer to fit his new muzzle, teeth growing into serrated fangs as his nose sank into his upper jaws, nostrils flaring. His hair turned blue, spreading out down his neck and along his spine, running down to the tip of his tail as his ears fanned out into elegant frills. To end his transformation, his eyes moved to the sides of his head, turning a bright shade of sapphire blue with slit pupils.

“Grrffhh…well…this was unexpected…” Phil panted as he brushed himself off, looking at his altered form. Indeed, he had turned into his Philadelphia Eagle sona, but at the same time, he had grown to at least a hundred or so feet tall. The same went for Dave, transformed into his dragon character.

“Not to mention we’ve attracted some company…” Dave said under his breath, looking down at the ground. Hundreds of people were looking up at the transformed couple in a mix of shock and awe. “I think it’s safe to say we’re ineligible to enter the Parade now, wouldn’t you think?”

“Yeah, not to mention I think we might have trashed a fair bit of the hotel…heh heh.” Phil was trying to keep still so he didn’t cause any more damage. He knew that soon they’d have to move, and the only way out was up, which could cause more damage. “Something tells me they’ll be having Anthrocon at a different location next year!”

“Yup…and we still haven’t had our lunch yet!” Dave groaned. “Wanna go see if there’s a McDonalds or a Pizza Hut nearby we can raid for food?”

“Unless they can make a giant meal, I think we’re gonna have to eat a few dozen burgers or a half dozen pizzas!” Phil laughed. “Either way, it’ll be better than standing here all day!”

“Then it’s settled. Let’s make a move!” They spread their wings tentatively, slowly flying out of the damaged hotel. They were able to get out without causing anything else to break as they took to the skies, hundreds of people taking photos and videos of the giant eagle and dragon as they went skywards.
